Goulburn Valley cow wins Sydney show championship

A Tallygaroopna Jersey cow has sealed her reputation as a leading Australian champion after winning the interbreed supreme champion dairy female at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Windy Ways Galaxies Dawn 7, owned by Brad and Jess Gavenlock and Frank Walsh, had earlier been judged the supreme champion dairy cow.

Mr Gavenlock admits the stud had had a “fairytale run” but said every win remained special.

Mr Gavenlock said the keys to success included having good cows, a lot of luck and the right management, which came from years of learning what worked and what didn’t work.

He said it was hard to fault the cow.

“There hasn’t been a Jersey cow that has beaten her yet,” he said.
